The shapewear universe is today a quite attractive and crowded space where everybody asserts one’s own genetic formula and endeavours to prove the ownership of the original invention of this very revolution which was unthinkable until a few years ago and which could only sound pharmacy and “smell” of ether. Today shapewear has changed a lot as much as women’s requirements have; shapewear has walked away from counters and “band-aids” and has reached a different living space: the world of fashion and its patterns while becoming glamorous and sometimes romantic, without anyway forgetting its original shaping, controlling and performing features: all-day-long comfort and the guarantee that an inseparable friend is capable of keeping a little body-shaping secret. This is how the Shapewear Revolution has started and Maglificio Ripa, as always, has not waited a single minute on the fence and has chosen the most qualified partner for its project designing: INVISTA. This is the very origin of the Shape-It-Up range, an exclusive capsule collection which best matches the new world of the LYCRA® beauty fabric to the most typical contents of Maglificio Ripa: a combination of innovation in style and technology as well as comfort and wearability. A key collection developed for garments that enhance the silhouette while offering various body-fitting solutions, from control and light support up to sober elegance and the most daring look.
INVISTA, one of the major producers worldwide of avant-garde fibres and solutions in the textile sector, as well as owner of the LYCRA® fibre trademark, has developed the pioneering LYCRA® beauty fabric platform: an exclusive scientific method to assess and certify both the quality and the performance of these new fabrics, whose new conception is dedicated to the shapewear universe. As proven by an international marketing research commissioned by Invista indeed, 93% of interviewed women consumers have stated that a lingerie purchase is rigorously based on its shaping features too. Today, a real gap has been recorded between the consumers’ demand for shapewear and the very offer by the market. Women consumers wear these garments as if they were very faithful beauty-friends and they would expect them to offer higher comfort, better wearability and superior shaping features, in order to always feel safe and comfortable. To make shapewear more and more consistent with the consumers’ requirements, the right fabric becomes essential and inalienable. This is the reason why a scientifically determined scale of values has been established to define the ability of shaping fabrics to combine shaping performance with total comfort. Special standards have been established to select the products whose best performance features may grant them the title of LYCRA® beauty fabrics. The fabrics used for the Shape-it-up collection by Maglificio Ripa have passed all checks and tests and have obtained the relevant certifications. Functional features, aesthetics and performance provide for their very intimate key factors.

Lycra® fibre which has set the new swimwear, sportswear and beachwear.standards. Thanks to the new ILIGHT fabrics, aesthetically superior swimsuits can be accomplished, whose perfect wearability and shape-fitting can last longer without shrinking or loosening, while introducing some different and better performances in terms of ten-time higher resistance to chlorinated water compared to standard items. Getting in touch with chlorate indeed, all elastomeric fibres loose their shape-recovering features, thus jeopardizing the item life-cycle. The ILIGHT fabrics have been conceived to improve performances and wearability of bathing suits while ensuring high protection against damages caused by both UV-rays and unsaturated acids contained in sun creams and oils. Thanks to the ILIGHT project therefore, Maglificio Ripo does not give up constantly developing and improving technical standards, which aim at creating a smarter, mature, innovative and all-around Italian product.
Aesthetically perfect, durable, high-performing and better wearable
On the occasion of “Interfiliere” fair in July and of “Maredimoda” later in Cannes, the new and long-awaited project, developed by Maglificio Ripa in collaboration with Invista, will be presented: it is about the new collection of beachwear fabrics ILIGHT, made with the innovative Xtra Life Lycra® fibre which has set the new swimwear, sportswear and beachwear.standards. “Our objective has consisted in supplying highly technological and innovative products since always, in order to make them different from mass and ordinary products. – says Luca Bianco, Managing Director of Maglificio Ripa – An exhaustive study was started some years ago, which lead us to accomplish a new generation of fabrics, whose “extreme” performances let us call them ILIGHT, as a token of gratitude towards the famous Light 2050, 2056, 2069 and “Acquario,” which have been so much successful in these last years by fulfilling our high expectations. After all, the one who stops, is lost, especially in the textile sector”.
